Originally from Athens, Christy attended Georgia State University where she obtained a BBA in Finance. She started her real estate career in south Georgia selling large tracts of land, commercial/investment property and residential property. She also managed both commercial and residential investment properties. In 2003, Christy returned home to Athens to practice real estate sales. She began her real estate career in Athens working for a major brokerage firm.
In 2005 Christy, Sarah and Stephanie joined together to open Chastain Jenkins and Leathers, now CJ&L real estate. Originally the firm focused on commercial and residential real estate sales. Over time, a property management division was added. While continuing to represent both sellers and buyers in real estate, Christy also manages the property management division of the company. Representing investors in the purchase of rentals gives Christy an understanding of the rapidly changing market. Christy is a Lead Athens Alum, served as a member of The Athens Women in Business, The Board of Directors of, the Athens Association of Realtors, The Athens Clarke County Mentor Program and the Jeanette Rankin Foundation. She served as a founding member of the Athens Farmers Market Board and was instrumental in the process of establishing the Athens Farmers Market. In 2010, she was awarded The Good Neighbor Award by both the Athens Association of Realtors and the Georgia Association of Realtors.
Christy, her husband Terry and their three children, reside in Kingswood. She balances work family time and serving the community, continuing to volunteer on a regular basis. She is also an avid swimmer and enjoys mountain biking with her husband.
